The R.S.P.B. and The British
Trust for Ornithology now recommend all year round feeding of wild birds. We
stock & mix a wide range of foods to attract and help as many species as
possible.
Below are examples of some of the
foods we offer.
PONDEROSA
SPECIAL MIX
Our own special
blend of small seeds, sunflower kernels and peanut granules.
A good high
energy mix for all year round feeding.
PONDEROSA DELUXE ROBIN MIX

own special mix of insectiverous soft food, pinhead oatmeal, berries, dried
mealworms, sunflower hearts, peanut granules, suet nuggets and small seed. Ideal
for bird tables, ground feeder trays or just on the ground.
PEANUTS
The traditional wild bird food, also a
desirable food for many wild creatures from
squirrels to badgers. Our peanuts are aflotoxin
tested and can be fed all year round as long as the
whole peanut cannot be taken away for feeding to
the young.
NUTS IN SHELL
String them together and watch the
birds for longer as they try to get the nuts out.
PEANUT GRANULES
Include the germination point of
peanuts which have a higher protein content that
the rest of the nut, and can be fed on the table or
in a seed feeder.
BLACK SUNFLOWER
This is a high Oil content seed and is
overtaking peanuts in popularity and is the most
cost effective means of supplying high energy food.
It needs to be fed in a seed feeder as it will fall
out of nut holders. Sought by all species
especially Greenfinches.
SUNFLOWER HEARTS
This is a high energy food, suitable
for all, including hedgehogs and has the added
bonus of no mess. One of our most popular sellers
WILD BIRD SEED

mix for all birds including doves & pigeons.
FINE WILD BIRD SEED
A variable mix of small seeds ideal for
small birds and when you wish to discourage
pigeons.

leave your table waste free.

blocks, especially beneficial during cold spells. Can be fed on the table or in
Feast Feeders.
Available in several flavours.
TREAT FEASTS:
Put in a dish on the bird table and it
is attractive to Robins, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Starlings, Finches & Siskins.
Available in several flavours.
MILLET SPRAYS:
Hang a bunch of millet sprays from a
tree or bird table and the sparrows will flock to see you.
BOGENA SOFTFOO
Great for Robins, Blackbirds & Thrushes.
FAT BALLS:
Suet balls in nets to hang from
branches, bird tables or fat ball Holders. For all birds.
Available in two sizes as well as packs of different flavours.
MEALWORMS:
Mealworms are an effective way of
providing high quality protein that birds need in their diet. They will attract
Tits, Robins, Wrens, Blackbirds, Thrushes & Woodpeckers. Feed all the year
round preferably at the same time each day.
Some species become tame enough to feed from the hand.
WAXWORMS:
The large juicy Waxworm is even more
popular with birds than Mealworms so mixing them helps cut down on the cost.
OYSTER SHELL GRIT:
Birds need an adequate calcium intake
to help in the production of strong egg shells, and at other times of the year
as a mineral supplement to aid digestion. Oyster shell grit is the natural
calcium source to provide this aid. It can be fed by putting in a small dish on
the bird table or mixed with seed.
HYGIENE:
If water is provided change it daily
and disinfect containers on a regular basis. Regularly clean up under feeding
areas and discard any old uneaten or mouldy food. Sweep bird tables off daily
and thoroughly clean regularly. Move tables and feeders around the garden if
possible or have several feeding sites.
SQUIRREL
FOOD:
Squirrel feeding is growing in popularity, not only is
it fun, it also helps to stop squirrels from destroying valuable bird feeders
and stealing their food.
